For sale is a wonderfully-crafted F-Style Mandolin mandolin made in Japan sometime in the late 1970s-1980s. Serial Number 12681. The KM-850 model was the top of the Kentucky line before production moved over to Korea and the KM-1000 was introduced. It would have retailed new for over $1000 back in the day. All solid woods, a sweet, quintessential chime and spring from a classic F-Style. Spruce top, maple back and sides (beautiful flame on the back, birdseye neck), ebony fretboard. Fern inlay on the peghead. Equipped with all nickel hardware (shows some patina). Factory original aside from some replaced ebony tuning buttons. In very good shape for its age with little fretwear; structurally in wonderful condition. The finish is experiencing some cloudiness/discoloration around the body from standard aging. There is some binding separation on the underside of the neck from some standard shrinkage. Some glue where it was repaired in a couple of spots. A missing pickguard. Price includes an original, but very nice fitted hardshell case.
