For sale is a 1961 Gibson Les Paul Junior. Serial number 17766 dates it to an era before the advent of the SG model. This particular LP Junior is just an absolute dream boat. All of the quintessential luster and awe that helped start the Gibson craze. Extremely light at 5 lbs, 4 oz. The original “dog ear” P90 sounds incredible, dynamic, loud and creamy – the sound that defined the P90. Included is a nice TKL hardshell case. More specific info:
Original, functional tuners with a slightly bent G tuner peg, but no issues functionally. Headstock is in good shape with some bumps and bruises around the edges. Working truss rod. New-ish bone nut crafted by Gibson. Appears to have a Brazilian rosewood* fingerboard that is gorgeous. It received a thorough fret job by Gibson with medium fret wire. Neck joint looks great with only some finish cracking, certainly nothing structural. The shape is a wonderful, markedly slim 60’s profile. Original pickguard shows signs of age/warping but fits well and looks great. Bridge hardware is solid with a nice patina. Bridge studs were removed, holes dowled and redrilled/installed by Gibson. All original electronics, clean and sounding primo. Original strap buttons. There is a significant crack repair on the back done by Gibson as well; repaired well, with minor refinish as to keep it original as possible. The finish is gorgeous with a very faded cherry on about 75% of the guitar that looks like pore-filled, select mahogany where it is faded, and a transparent cherry in places where it hasn’t faded. Beautiful texturally and just a joy to behold. Included is a copy of the invoice from Gibson last year when it received some repairs. Please contact us for any more questions.
