This bass is a total killer and has recently been set up and is ready to be brought to town! Made in 1979 in the revered Matsumoku factory of Japan, this buddy plays with very low action, recently had a fresh bone nut made for it and the truss rod is set with minimal relief with room for adjustment in either direction. This model was famously used by Cliff Burton of Metallica, he most famously used one in a black finish but it’s hard to look away from this particular finish, dubbed “Oak Shade”. It’s got a fair amount of finish scratches on the back of the body in particular and some paint chips around the edges of the body but structurally it’s in excellent shape and there’s plenty of tonal variety afoot. Truly a battle axe!
